At least the Los Angeles Clippers did a great job with their change in logo.

In their 50-year history, this club has never reached a conference final.

Are You Kiddin'?
In their previous 49 seasons (in three cities---namely Buffalo, San Diego, and Los Angeles), the Clippers have not only never reached the NBA Finals------------they've never even reached a conference final.
This may have been spurred by fear of a potential Lakers dynasty.

Yes, Iowa Had An NBA Team
Here's the front cover of the official 1949-50 Waterloo Hawks program.

The Hawks, a former National Basketball League team (they joined that circuit in 1948), became part of the newly formed National Basketball Association, a product of the 1949 merger between the 12-year old NBL and the three-year old Basketball Association of America.
They played one year in the NBA before defecting the newly-formed (and ill-fated) National Professional Basketball League, an attempted revival of the old NBL. Both the team and that league folded in 1951.
The Hawks remain Iowa's only entry in any of the Big-Four professional sports leagues (the NBA, NHL, NFL, and Major League Baseball).

A Packers Game Program From 1961
No, not THOSE Packers!
Here's the front cover of the official game program for the December 16, 1961 Chicago Packers' NBA home game against the Philadelphia Warriors.

At the International Amphitheatre, the first-year expansion Packers (today's Washington Wizards) dropped 112-110 decision.

LeBron's Homecoming
Will the return of Mr. James to the Cavaliers help end Cleveland's major-league championship drought?
The Cavaliers made their one-and-only NBA Finals appearance in 2007, with LeBron in tow, only to be swept by the San Antonio Spurs in four games.
The original Cleveland Browns last won the NFL title in the pre-Super Bow-era year of 1964.
The Cleveland Indians last won a World Series in 1948.

The Hornets May Be Returning To Charlotte....
However, they'll be stuck with the Bobcats' rotten reputation and record (one winning season and one playoff appearance in nine years).
Maybe they should have been renamed the Charlotte Pickles instead.

Nate Whacked
It appears that the slumping Portland Trail Blazers, playing recently like relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers from soccer's English Premier League, on a day that they traded two of their players, have axed head coach Nate McMillan.

Era Ends In Salt Lake City
Frankly, I did not see it coming. Jerry Sloan, in the middle of his 23rd season as Utah Jazz head coach, the longest-tenured coach/manager in the four major American sports, has called it quits.

Maurice Lucas, Enforcer On Blazers' Title Team, R. I. P.

Was This About Keeping LeBron?
Or was this all about not having to pay this chap for next season?
