The regional semifinal phase of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament commenced on Thursday with four games, two of them in the South Regional, with both games contested at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.
Game #1:
Marques Townes scored 18 points as the eleventh-seeded Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (31-5) held off the seventh-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack (29-8) 69-68.
Caleb Martin paced UNR with 21 points.
Game #2:
In a battle of the Wildcats, Xavier Sneed scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as ninth-seeded Kansas State (25-11) knocked off fifth-seeded Kentucky (26-11) 61-58.
P.J. Washington topped UK with 18 points while grabbing 15 rebounds.
Loyola-Chicago and Kansas State will take on each other this coming Saturday (3:09 PM Pacific Time, TBS) in the South Regional Final with a berth in the Final Four up for grabs.

NCAA South: K-State, Nevada Advance To Sweet Sixteen
Two games were played on Sunday as the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Regional quarterfinal round concluded.
At Nashville, Tennessee (Bridgestone Arena):
Cody Martin scored 25 points as the seventh-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack (29-7), with five players scoring in double figures, erased a 22-point deficit with a game-ending 32-8 run in the final eleven minutes as they shocked the second-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (31-5) 75-73.
At Charlotte, North Carolina (Spectrum Center):
In a tough low-scoring affair, Barry Brown, Jr. scored 18 points as the ninth-seeded Kansas State Wildcats (24-11) put an end to the sixteenth-seeded UMBC Retrievers' (25-11) magical tournament run with a 50-43 victory.

NCAA South: Ramblers Knock Off Vols; UK Wears Down Pesky Bulls
Two games in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Regional are set for Saturday.
At Boise, Idaho (Taco Bell Arena):
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 points while Hamidou Diallo added 22 as the fifth-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (26-10) wore down the 12th-seeded Buffalo Bulls (27-9) 95-75.
Wes Clark topped the Bulls with 26 points.
At Dallas (American Airlines Center):
Clayton Custer, who scored 10 points, hit the game-winning three-point shot with 3.6 seconds remaining to lift eleventh-seeded Loyola-Chicago (30-5) to a 63-62 victory over third-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (26-9).
Andre Jackson came off the bench to pace the Ramblers with 16 points.
At Boise, Idaho (Taco Bell Arena):

NCAA South: RETRIEVERS PULL HISTORIC UPSET AS THEY KNOCK OFF CAVS TO BECOME FIRST #16 SEED TO DEFEAT A #1 SEED; Bearcats, Wolf Pack (Nevada, That Is) Advance
Four games were contested in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Regional on Friday.
At Nashville, Tennessee (Bridgestone Arena):
Game #1:
Jarron Cumberland scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the second-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (31-4) survived a scared from fifteenth-seeded Georgia State (24-11) 68-53.
d'Marcus Simonds topped the Panthers with 24 points.
Game #2:
Kendall Stephens scored 22 points as the seventh-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack (28-7), with five players scoring in double figures, defeated the tenth-seeded Texas Longhorns (19-15) 87-83 in overtime.
Kerwin Roach II (26 points) and Matt Coleman (25) combined to score 51 points for the 'Horns.
At Charlotte, North Carolina (Spectrum Center):
Game #1:

Game #2:
In what may have been the biggest upset in the history of the NCAA Tournament, Jairus Lyles scored 28 points as the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers (25-10) became the first #16 seed ever to defeat a number-one seed by overpowering the Virginia Cavaliers (31-3) 74-54.
The Cavaliers had been the tournament's top overall seed.

Four games from the South Regional of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Round of 64 were contested on Thursday.
At Dallas (American Airlines Center):
In game one, Lamonte Turner came off the bench to score 19 points as the third-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (26-8) dominated the 14th-seeded Wright State Raiders (25-10) 73-47.
In the second contest, Donte Ingram hit a three-point shot as time expire to lift the eleventh-seeded Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (29-5) past the sixth-seeded Miami Hurricanes (22-10) 64-62.
Clayton Custer scored 14 points to pace the Ramblers.

In the opening contest which was a battle of Wildcats, Kevin Knox scored 25 points as #5-seeded Kentucky (25-10), despite not converting a three-point shot for the first time since November of 1988, defeated 12th-seeded Davidson (21-12) 78-73.
Jon Axel Gudmundsson topped Davidson with 21 points.
In the nightcap, Wes Clark scored 25 points while Jeremy Harris added 23 as the thirteenth-seeded Buffalo Bulls (27-8) garnered their first-ever NCAA Tourney victory by dominating the fourth-seeded Arizona Wildcats (27-8) 89-68, capping off an 0-3 tournament for Pac-12 Conference schools.
