The semifinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region took place on Friday with two games contested at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee:
In the opener, Joel Berry II scored 26 points while Justin Jackson added 24 as the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (30-7) outlasted the fourth-seeded Butler Bulldogs (25-9) 92-80 to advance to 26th Elite Eight.
Luke Maye contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds (his first career double-double) to the Heels' cause.
Andrew Chrabascz topped the Bulldogs with 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
In the nightcap, De'Aaron Fox scored a career-high 39 points (an NCAA Tourney single-game record for a freshman) as the second-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (32-5) downed the third-seeded UCLA Bruins (31-5) 86-75.
Malik Monk added 21 points to the 'Cats' coffers.
It will be a battle of college basketball bluebloods as Kentucky and North Carolina will square off in Memphis on Sunday for a berth in the Final Four.

NCAA South: UK, Heels, Bruins Pack Bags For Memphis
Three games in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region were played on Sunday.
At Banker's Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis:
Bam Adebayo scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and block what would have been a game-tying three-point shot in the final seconds and the second-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (31-5) held off the tenth-seeded Wichita State Shockers (31-5) 65-62.
De'Aaron Fox scored 14 points for the Wildcats while Malik Monk came up with a steal and sank two free throws in the final 13 seconds.
Landry Shamet, whose three-point shot was blocked at the end of the game, topped the Shockers with 20 points.
At Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville, South Carolina:
Kennedy Meeks scored 16 points and produced a big-time tip-in with 44.2 seconds remaining as the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (29-7) finished the match on the 12-0 run and overcame the eighth-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks (26-10) 72-65.
At Golden 1 Center, Sacramento:
Lonzo Ball scored 19 points and dished out nine assists as the third-seeded UCLA Bruins (31-4) defeated the sixth-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (30-6) 79-67.

NCAA South: Bulldogs Topped Blue Raiders, Head To Sweet Sixteen
At Milwaukee, Wisconsin:
The fourth-seeded Butler Bulldogs (25-8) , with Kelan Martin scoring 19 points, knocked out twelfth-seeded Middle Tennessee (31-5) 74-65 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in the lone Saturday contest in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region.
JaCory Williams paced the Blue Raiders with 20 points.

NCAA South: Heels, Hogs, Shockers, Bearcats, UK, UCLA Advance
Six games were contested on Friday in Round-of-64 play in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region.
At Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville, South Carolina:
Moses Kingsley scored 23 points while Jaylen Barford---who converted the go-ahead jumper with 57.8 seconds remaining---added 20 as the eighth-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks (26-9) defeated the ninth-seeded Seton Hall Pirates (21-12) 77-71.
Justin Jackson scored 21 points as the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (27-7), with six players scoring in double digits, demolished the sixteenth-seeded Texas Southern Tigers (23-11) 103-64.
At Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis:
The tenth-seeded Wichita State Shockers (31-4) racked up their 16th straight game by defeating the seventh-seeded Dayton Flyers (24-8) 64-58, despite 25 points from the Flyers' Scoochie Smith.
Landry Shamet tallied 13 points for the Shockers.

Lavone Holland II paced the Norse, who were playing in their first NCAA Tourney in their first season of eligibility (only the seventh school to do so since 1970), with 22 points.
At Golden 1 Center, Sacramento:
Troy Caupain scored 23 points as the sixth-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (30-5) defeated the #11-seeded Kansas State Wildcats (21-14) 75-61.
T.J. Leaf scored 23 points to help carry the third-seeded UCLA Bruins (30-4) to a 97-80 victory over the 14th-seeded Kent State Golden Flashes (22-14). Thomas Welsh added 16 points to the Bruins' coffers.
The Flashes were led by Jaylin Walker and Jimmy Hall, Jr. who scored 23 and 20 points, respectively.

NCAA South:Bulter Too Much For Winthrop; Blue Raiders Upset Gophers
The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region commenced on Thursday with two games, both contested at Milwaukee's BMO Harris Bradley Center.
In the opener, Avery Woodson scored 18 points---all of them on a career-high-equalizing six three-pointers as the fourth-seeded Butler Bulldogs (24-8) defeated the thirteenth-seeded Winthrop Eagles (26-7) 76-64.
Xavier Cooks topped the Eagles with 23 points.
In the nightcap, Reggie Upshaw scored 19 points as the twelfth-seeded Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (31-4) knocked off the fifth-seeded Minnesota Golden Gophers (24-10) 81-72.
