The semifinal round of the West Coast Conference Tournament took place with two games played at Las Vegas on Saturday.
In the opener, Elias Harris scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (#1 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls; 29-2) pulled away from Loyola Marymount (11-22) in the second half for 66-48 victory and a berth in Monday night's title game.
In the nightcap, St. Mary's (ranked #23 in the coaches' poll; 27-5) survived a scare from San Diego (16-18) 69-66 in overtime to advance to the title game on Monday night against Gonzaga. Brad Waldow scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Gaels.

WCC Tournament: Lions Continue Tourney Hot Streak, Knock Off Broncos; Toreros Deliver Blow To BYU NCAA Chances
The two games that made up the third round of the West Coast Conference tournament were played in Las Vegas on Friday.
In the opener, Anthony Ireland scored two of his 23 points on the go-ahead basket with 5.3 seconds remaining as Loyola Marymount (11-22) knocked off Santa Clara (21-11) 60-58. The Lions, who went through a miserable regular season but who have now won three straight conference tournament contests, will face top-seeded (and top-ranked in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls) Gonzaga in semifinal-round action on Saturday.
In the nightcap, San Diego (16-17) shocked BYU (21-11) 72-69, perhaps delivering a crippling, if not fatal, blow to the Cougars' NCAA Tournament chances. The Toreros will get second-seeded (and #23-ranked in the Coaches' poll) St. Mary's on Saturday.

WCC Tournament: Lions, Toreros Advance

In the opener, Anthony Ireland scored 16 points, two of them on a pair of critical free throws late in overtime as Loyola Marymount (10-22) knocked off San Francisco (14-16) 61-60, despite 23 points from the Dons' Cole Dickerson.
In the nightcap, San Diego (14-17) defeated Pepperdine (12-17) 62-59. Johnny Dee scored 16 points to pace the Toreros while Stacy Davis scored 19 (to go with his 11 rebounds) for the defeated Waves.

WCC Tournament: Pilots Fall To LMU; Season Over
At Las Vegas, Nevada:
Ashley Hamilton scored 21 points as Loyola Marymount (9-22) knocked off the Portland Pilots (11-21) 65-54 in the opening game of the West Coast Conference Tournament on Wednesday. The Lions, whom the Pilots defeated twice during the regular season, will face San Francisco on Thursday.
