Both American League divisional playoff series resumed on Monday.
At Cleveland:
Marwin Gonzalez hit a two-run double as part of a three-run seventh inning as the Houston Astros added six more runs in the eighth inning as they finished a three-game divisional playoff series sweep of the Cleveland Indians 11-3 on the road in game three.
The Astros are heading for their second consecutive American League Championship Series, where they will face the winner of the New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox series.
At New York:
Brock Holt became the first player to hit for the cycle in a postseason game as the Boston Red Sox buried the New York Yankees 16-1 in game three of their divisional playoff series.
The Red Sox, who now lead two games to one, can close out their archrivals on Tuesday with a game-four victory at Yankee Stadium.
