Marcus Mariota completed 12 of 21 passes for 234 yards for a touchdown and ran five times for another 113 yards and two more scores (runs of 12 and 46 yards) as the Oregon Ducks (ranked #3 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches preseason polls) destroyed the visiting Nicholls State Colonels (FCS) 66-3 on Saturday in the regular-season opener for both schools. De'Anthony Thomas ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns for the Ducks while Bryon Marshall (who ran for 124 yards) ran 49 yards for a TD of his own. The victory marked Mark Helfrich's debut as Oregon's new head football coach.
