Time For Film Noir, Boys and Girls!

From Eagle-Lion Films in 1948, here's some classic film noir with "He Walked By Night."  This film starred Richard Basehart, Scott Brady, Roy Roberts, Whit Bissell, James Cardwell, and Jack Webb.  This film, which was photographed in semidocumentary tone, was loosely based on newspaper accounts of the real-life actions of former Glendale, California police department employee and World Was II veteran Erwin "Machine-Gun" Walker, a fellow who unleashed a crime spree of burglaries, robberies, and shootouts in the Los Angeles area during 1945 and 1946.



With superb photography by John Alton, this movie was produced by Byron Foy and directed by Alfred L. Werker and Anthony Mann.

Dark City (Paramount-1950)

From Paramount Pictures in 1950, we present "Dark City."  In this one, when a crooked card game turns deadly, the remaining gamblers are the subject of a plot for vengeance.

 



This motion picture starred Charlton Heston, Dean Jagger, and Lizabeth Scott.  Jack Webb was also in the cast.







"Dark City" was produced by Hal B. Wallis, written by John M. Lucas, and directed by William Dieterle.

Higgins and Crane Wilbur (who wrote the original story) and additional dialogue by Harry Essex, photography by John Alton (ASC), and with Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant Marty Wynn as technical advisor, this picture was produced by Robert T. Kane and directed by Alfred Werker.  A Bryan Foy production.
