Both National League divisional playoff series were decided on Friday as both series went the full five games.
At Milwaukee:
Nyjer Morgan delivered a 10th-inning base hit that scored Carlos Gomez from second base as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 to win their divisional playoff series three games to two and advance to the National League championship series. This was only the second playoff series victory in Brewers history---the other being in 1982 when they came back from a two-games-to-none deficit and defeated the then-California Angels in five games to win the American League pennant.
At Philadelphia:
Rafael Furcal led off the first inning with a triple and Skip Schumaker sent him home with a double that made the game's lone run possible while Chris Carpenter out-dueled Roy Halladay in pitching a three-hit complete-game shutout as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0 on the road to win the fifth and deciding game of their divisional playoff series.
The National League Championship Series begins in Milwaukee on Sunday as the Brewers host the Cardinals in game one. It's a rematch of the 1982 World Series in which the Redbirds defeated the then-American Leaguers four games to three.

National League Divisional Playoffs: Redbirds and Snakes Force Game Fives
Both National League divisional playoff series continued on Wednesday.
At St. Louis:
David Freese homered, doubled, and batted in four runs as the St. Louis Cardinals squared their divisional playoff series at two games apiece with a 5-3 home win over the Philadelphia Phillies in game four. The Cards' victory has forced a fifth and deciding game in this best-of-five series to be played in Philadelphia on Friday.
At Phoenix, Arizona:
Ryan Roberts hit a grand slam home run while Chris Young belted two round-trippers for the first two-homer game in franchise history as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the visiting Milwaukee Brewers 10-6 to square their series at two games apiece and force a fifth and deciding game on Friday back in Milwaukee.

Pinch-hitter Ben Francisco's three-run shot with two out in the seventh inning provided the difference as the Philadelphia Phillies took a two-games-to-one divisional series lead following their 3-2 road win over the St. Louis Cardinals, who stranded 14 runners on base.
At Phoenix, Arizona:
Paul Goldschmidt hit a grand slam home run in the fifth inning while fellow rookie Josh Collmenter pitched seven strong innings of two-hit ball as the Arizona Diamondbacks avoided elimination by handily defeating the visiting Milwaukee Brewers 8-1 and cut their divisional playoff series deficit to two-games-to-one.

National League Divisional Playoffs: Cards Square Series With Phillies; Brewers Go Up 2-0
The National League divisional playoffs continued with the second game of each respective series on Sunday.
At Milwaukee:
Ryan Braun hit a two-run home and Prince Fielder added an RBI single as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-4 to take a two-games-to-none lead in their best-of-five series. The Brewers will go for the sweep at Arizona on Tuesday.
At Philadelphia:
The St. Louis Cardinals came back from a four-run deficit on the road to top the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 to even their divisional playoff series at a game apiece. The Cards scored four runs in the fourth inning, one more in the sixth, and, thanks to Albert Pujols' go-ahead single in the seventh, the game winning run.
At Milwaukee:

The National League baseball playoffs began on Saturday with the opening game of each of the two best-of-five divisional playoff series.

Yovani Gallardo pitched eight innings of one-run baseball while Prince Fielder hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning as the Milwaukee Brewers took the opening game of their divisional playoff series, 4-1 at home over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
At Philadelphia:
Ryan Howard hit a go-ahead three-run home as part of a five-run sixth inning as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 9-3 in game one of their divisional playoff series.
At Milwaukee:
