LAST-SECOND TD PASS CARRIES CLEMSON PAST 'BAMA AS TIGERS WIN FIRST NATIONAL TITLE SINCE 1981

At Tampa, Florida:

Quarterback Deshaun Watson (who passed for 420 yards) ran for a touchdown and threw for three more (two of them to Hunter Renfrow, the second of which went for two yards and the game-winning score with one second left) as the second-seeded Clemson Tigers (14-1) upended the top-seeded---and previously unbeaten---defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide (14-1) 35-31 to win the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday and took their first national title since 1981.  The victory was the Tigers' first against the Crimson Tide since 1905.
