Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., Violinist's Son Who Starred On "77 Sunset Strip," "The FBI," R.I.P.
Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., son of a famed same-named violinist best remembered for starring in such ABC Network television shows as 77 Sunset Strip and The FBI, passed away on Friday at his Solvang, California ranch from natural causes at age 95 according to his same-named son.
The son of famed violinist Efrem Zimbalist, Sr. and concert soprano Alma Gluck, Mr. Zimbalist portrayed suave Ivy League-educated private investigator Stu Bailey in the 1958-64 Warner Brothers-produced series 77 Sunset Strip.
A year after that show's demise, Efrem returned to TV, this time as Inspector Lew Erskine on The FBI, which like old-time radio's This Is Your FBI, received the sanctioning and blessing of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The show ran on ABC from 1965 to 1974.
Efrem's daughter, Stephanie Zimbalist, starred with future James Bond Pierce Brosnan in the 1980's series Remmington Steele.

Jack Ramsey, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame who coached the Portland Trail Blazers to their only National Basketball Association title, and in recent years was an ESPN analyst, passed away on Monday at age 89.
Coach Ramsey, known as "Dr. Jack," went through a prolonged battle against cancer.
He spent 20 years as an NBA head coach with the Philadelphia 76ers, Buffalo Braves, Portland Trail Blazers, and Indiana Pacers. Before that, Jack was men's head basketball coach at his alma mater, St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, where his Hawks played in seven NCAA Tournaments (including a Final Four appearance 1961).

Timbers Battle Dynamo To 1-1 Draw In Houston; Remain Winless
At Houston:
Gaston Fernandez delivered the equalizer in the 33rd minute as the Portland Timbers gained a 1-1 road draw with the Houston Dynamo in the lone Sunday Major League Soccer contest. Will Bruin scored for the Dynamo in the 16th minute.
The Timbers, still seeking their first win, at least got their first road point of the season. The will begin a three-game home stand this coming Saturday against resurgent DC United at 7:30 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest).

Stanley Cup Playoffs: Bruins Finish Off Wings; Penguins, Avalanche Take 3-2 Series Leads; Kings Stay Alive

Loui Eriksson (Power Play), Zdeno Chara (PP), Milan Lucic, and Jerome Iginla each scored a goal and Tuukka Rask stopped 31 of 33 shots as the Boston Bruins defeated the visiting Detroit Red Wings 4-2 in game five and won their conference quarterfinal series four games to one. The Bruins will take on the Montreal Canadiens in the conference semifinals.
At Pittsburgh:
Marc-Andre Fleury saved 23 of 24 shots while Chris Kunitz (Power Play), Jussi Jokinen, and Kris Letang each scored a goal as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 in game five of their conference quarterfinal series.
